Reframing GLP-1 treatment: Why taking a GLP-1 has nothing to do with willpower—and how to let go of the shame and stigma that can surround
Dr. Kendall Lynch, PT, DPT, OCS of Niche Performance and Wellness and Clinical Health Psychologist Dr. Alison Newman, Ph.D., ABPP of Well Behavioral Medicine team up to offer this FREE workshop helping you to better understand GLP-1 treatment.
GLP-1 treatment is about more than weight loss. For women in midlife, it can bring changes in how you relate to your body, food, hunger, and even your sense of self—and those changes can come with questions, uncertainty, and sometimes shame or stigma. We’ll reframe the conversation around GLP-1s and explore what it means to pursue treatment without judgment or the idea that weight is simply a matter of willpower.
We’ll talk about the questions that don’t always get enough attention: Do I have to take this forever? What if I don’t lose weight? How do I know when I’m actually hungry? How might weight loss change my relationship with my body, food, or the people around me? Understanding these changes can help you navigate this stage of life with greater self-compassion and confidence.
We’ll also look beyond the number on the scale to understand what GLP-1 treatment may mean for your musculoskeletal health. Midlife is already a time when changes in hormones, muscle mass, bone density, and physical function can become increasingly important. Changes in body weight and composition may add another layer to consider. We’ll discuss why strength training, adequate nutrition, and intentional movement matter—and how you can take an active role in protecting your strength and physical health.
The goal isn’t simply to lose weight. It’s to understand what is happening in your body, support your health through the process, and feel empowered to take charge of your strength, movement, and wellbeing throughout midlife and beyond.
